For most of my clients, it makes total sense to include at least some props in your session. And for some of you, it will make sense to include a lot of props! Props give you variety in your collection, which means they'll be more attention-grabbing than 52 angles of your smiling face. They also go a long way in communicating whatever point you are trying to get across, whether that's a great idea for keeping kids busy or the details of your newest launch.

But which props do you include? The list will be different for each business owner, but here are some things to think about as you're making your own list!

It's basically Pinterest law that you include a laptop (specifically a MacBook) and a coffee cup in your brand session. If you're not a coffee drinker, they will allow you to substitute whatever you like to drink at happy hour. I actually do like these shots! Bring on that coffee mug you start every day with! But they're just the tip of the iceberg! (Also, if you don't use a MacBook and you pretty much only drink water, no worries! This is all customizable, as you'll see below!)

The most logical things to include are the tools of your trade! For instance, I have a lot of shots with my camera in my own collection. If you're a podcaster, bring your microphone and headphones. If you run a cooking YouTube channel, then load up those pots and pans and a few groceries! We will likely have chosen a location with a killer kitchen, so we can stage some cooking photos! A makeup artist would bring their palettes and brushes, a trainer needs some weights or a yoga mat. The list could go on and on! Think about what it is you do on a regular basis and let's show a polished up, best version of that!

To take that a step further, think specifically about what content you'll be sharing over the next few months. You may not have your whole calendar set, but if you know you're going to be talking about your favorite books related to your trade, bring a stack of them! Are you planning a post about your favorite water color brushes? Pack 'em up along with some paper and paints and we'll show them in action! If you don't have any content planned, this is a great time to do so! I knew I'd be writing about what to wear for a brand session soon when I did mine, so we included a shot of me and the outfits I was considering.

If you are launching a product soon, then I probably don't even need to tell you that you need to bring it with you to your shoot! What an exciting time! Let's get you plenty of shots of the product, how it's used and how much you love it to use over the coming months.

There are so many ways we can include props in your shoot! Contact me below to talk about what would look great in your session!
